light the fire

At times in life, you just need the opportunity to light the fire. When I first had the opportunity to be coached, I found that at the heart of this was the opportunity to invest in reflecting on my development and growth. At first, this felt self-indulgent as I knew it cost both time and money.
The first step of this journey was to find the best coach to work with, and I had the opportunity to meet three different coaches for a "chemistry session" online. Having chosen an experienced coach, we worked online initially as we were in the midst of the pandemic. I found that I was preparing for each session by reflecting on the key issues I wanted to explore and also finding the right environment to do the session. I ended up deciding to do this from home on a Friday after work.
In the final sessions, we met outdoors and walked on the South Downs. The power of walking coaching was tangible as, by walking, step by step, forwards we were making progress in my thinking and reflecting on the next steps of the challenges we were exploring. At the heart of this, I recognised the power of how coaching can help you find the solutions to the challenges you face. The opportunity to do this with someone who could help you explore solutions was powerful.
This led me to commit to training as a coach and changing the way I live and lead.
So where will coaching lead you? It's time to light the fire...
